Hundreds of customers in Wick and surrounding areas hit by water supply issue after mains burst

Water supplies in parts of Wick have been affected by a burst water main, according to Scottish Water.

The utility firm is investigating the leak, which it says is causing interruption to supply to some customers in the south of the town.

One of its teams is on site to locate the burst to the 14-inch trunk main which is affecting water supplies to around 850 customers.

Customers may be facing no water or low water pressure in the KW1, KW3, KW5 and KW6 postcode areas of Caithness, including Spittal, Knockally and Occumster.

Tankers are on their way to backfeed supplies into the network to try and bring as many customers as possible back into supply.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Our teams are working as quickly a possible to locate the burst and get our customers back into supply at the earliest opportunity.

“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused while we carry out this vital repair.”
