An unemployed Castletown man who smashed a window at a local house in the early hours was soon traced by the police – the incident was captured on CCTV.

Colin MacNeil, of Calder Square, Castletown, admitted the offence at Wick Sheriff Court earlier this week and was fined £200. The 40-year-old has an offending record.

The court was told that there was an ongoing neighbours' dispute and that someone involved had "egged the accused on" to break the window of the house in the village's Mackay Street, on June 1.
