A fundraiser for a family of a newborn baby who was critically ill has raised over £1000.

Kyro Macphee was born on March 22, yet at just a week old he had been placed on a ventilator and was fighting off a severe infection.

His parents Declan Macphee and Lakeisha Lapsely from Alness, were at his bedside after he was transferred from Raigmore to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

Kyro is now recovering and has been taken off the ventilator. The fundraiser was set up to support Kyro’s parents with costs while they are in Dundee.

Declan’s sister-in-law, Hannah Macphee said: “Kyro is fighting the infection. He is coming off the ventilator and going onto the CPAP machine, so it definitely looks like he is going to make it.

“They will check with a scan for any long term damage but his liver and lungs seem to be getting much better.

“The fundraiser has reached its goal, which is absolutely amazing.”
