A Highland health chief has paid tribute to the vaccinators and teams working behind the scenes on the Covid spring booster campaign.

Dr Tim Allison, director of public health for NHS Highland, also thanked members of the public who have taken the opportunity to receive their jabs.

Clinics are continuing across the health board area, including Caithness and Sutherland, with more clinics added for May.

Sessions are taking place at the Royal British Legion club in Thurso on Thursday this week, and on two dates in Wick Assembly Rooms next month.

Dr Allison said: “Since the start of the vaccination programme we have delivered tens of thousands of vaccinations across our area.

“The programme has been a success and I would like to pay tribute to all the vaccinators and the teams working behind the scenes. I would also like to thank the members of the public who have come forward to be vaccinated and are continuing to do so as we reach the next stage of this programme.

“We are now carrying out vaccinations for those eligible for the spring booster, over-75s and the immunosuppressed, and the vaccination for our younger members of society, the 5-11s.

"The majority will be invited by letter to attend for their vaccination, so please look out for that blue envelope arriving through your door. We are also updating our website on a regular basis with details of all clinics.”
