There are two plans being considered by Highland Council for a path extension at Wick Business Park and the siting of a glamping pod at Auckengill.

The "holiday pod" application was validated on July 10 and is for the structure to be sited on land 20 metres west of Duchra in Auckengill.

The applicant states that "drainage pipework will be installed below the ground so that discharge from the pods will gravity flow down to a new septic tank that would work with the appropriate size soak away for this pod. Percolation tests have been completed".

"Suitably sized bins shall be provided next to the parking space to allow disposal & recycling of waste in accordance with Highland Council requirements," it is also stated.

The other application is from Highland and Islands Enterprise and validated on July 13 to extend a road at Wick Business Park to include "footpath and turning head" and an upgrade of existing road surfacing. There is work being carried out in the same area to construct three buildings with 14 mixed-use units valued at around £2M.
