Highland Council leader urges public to get involved in Wick lanes project
Highland Council leader Raymond Bremner is encouraging members of the public to take part in next week's drop-in event about the next stage of Wick town centre regeneration.
Views are being sought on transforming lanes leading to High Street into more inviting, accessible and welcoming places.
The Wick Lanes Pocket Places project will be launched in Caithness House, Market Square, from 3-7pm on Wednesday. Residents, businesses and community groups are invited to attend.
It comes after the Royal Burgh of Wick Community Council and Highland Council secured funding from Sustrans Scotland’s Pocket Places programme.
Councillor Bremner, who represents Wick and East Caithness, said: “We are inviting people to get involved and take up this opportunity to come and find out more about what is planned and provide feedback and any suggestions. Our goal is to improve access into the town centre and make it a more welcoming and attractive place for people to spend time in.

“The session on August 16 is a great chance for folk to look at the drawings and ask questions, so I hope as many people as possible come along. This project will complement the submission for the Wick Street Design Project which is still in process.”
The project partners have highlighted Wares Lane, Tolbooth Lane and John Street in particular, but they say they would welcome comments and ideas about other High Street lanes.
