High standards at Thurso Rotary Club speechmaking competition

Topics ranging from aliens to allergies were explored at Thurso Rotary Club’s annual speechmaking competition for young people.

An appreciative audience enjoyed speeches on subjects including The Power of Suggestion; Aliens; Is War Ever Acceptable?; Allergies; Punk Influence and Rebellion; and The Importance of Drama in Schools.

All the participants were adjudged to have shown a high standard of delivery and presentation.

Two trophies were presented. The prize for overall winner was awarded to Georgia Wilkin, while the Ronnie Johnstone Shield for most innovative and challenging topic went to Charles Fryett.
