AN intended price increase for High Life Highland's highlife membership has been suspended until further notice.
Membership fees had been due to go up from the start of April, but at a meeting of the charity's board it was decided to delay the move.
Chief executive Steve Walsh said: “In light of the Covid-19 situation the charity has taken the decision not to implement a planned price increase to highlife individual and family memberships for the time being and keep it subject to ongoing review.
“I am aware that a proportion of our customers, for whom we do not have email addresses, have received letters informing them of the increase. These letters had to be planned weeks in advance and were organised to be delivered [on Friday] before the full extent and speed of the coronavirus impact was understood.
“I would like to reassure our customers that the increase will not be applied on April 1 and apologise for any uncertainty the letter may have caused. We will get back in touch with our customers when we have come through this current situation.”
Mr Walsh added: “In the meantime, I would wish to thank the many highlife members that have been in touch to say they will be continuing to pay their subscriptions, effectively as a donation, to support High Life Highland staff throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.”
