High demand for well finished hoggs at Quoybrae

Quoybrae, Aberdeen and Northern Marts on Monday, April 8, sold 942 prime, store and feeding sheep.

Old season prime lambs (372) averaged 366.2p to 401.1p for 47kg Suffolks from Bullechauch, Harpsdale, and £220 gross for 63kg for Black Texels from Cruithni, Tofts.

Old season store lambs (335) averaged £95.32 and sold to £147.50 for Texels from Fairview, Halkirk.

Feeding ewes and rams (235) averaged £114.64 to £225 for a Texels from Kennachy, Forss.

“Well finished hoggs were in high demand, whilst leaner sorts were less favoured. Ewes followed national trend and were keenly bid for.”
