Volunteers will be providing a soup lunch free of charge at Wick Baptist Church on Fridays starting this week.

The Friday lunchtime events take place between midday and 2pm over the winter months and start at the end of this week on October 28. This is open to absolutely anyone.

Pastor Matt Alexander said: "We recognise that increasing living costs may be forcing people to choose between heating their homes and eating.

"We also recognise that many people are isolated in their homes and desperately lonely. We want to open up the church as a warm and safe place where anyone can come and enjoy a hearty bowl of soup and some company for a couple of hours."

They have called this initiative "Bowl full of comfort" and hope that anyone who comes along for a bowl of soup will leave feeling comforted.

Wick Baptist Church is situated at the top of Dempster Street.
