Four cyclists calling themselves the Handlebar Heroes arrived in John O’Groats at the weekend after an eight-day fundraising ride from Land’s End.

Leigh Greenwood, Chris Wann, Ashley Parkinson and Gareth Turner left behind their day jobs in the glazing and building sectors to take on the 966-mile challenge.

They were cycling not just as individuals but as proud representatives of the fenestration industry.

The quartet were raising money for two charities – Cancer Research UK and Andy’s Man Club, a men’s mental health organisation.

Almost £18,500 has been donated on their GoFundMe page.

The Handlebar Heroes set off from Land’s End on May 17 and arrived in Groats on May 24. An update on their fundraising page on Saturday announced: “The Handlebar Heroes made it to John O’Groats with a fantastic final day performance.”
