Hamnavoe set to return to service on Tuesday
FERRY services between Scrabster and Stromness are set to return to normal three days earlier than planned as a damaged ferry is expected to come back into service on Tuesday.
Serco Northlink have confirmed that subject to successful trials, the Hamnavoe will resume its timetabled Pentland Ferry crossing on Tuesday.
Engineering teams have reparired and refitted the starboard engine earlier than expected following a major crankshaft on April 25.
The ferry will be moved from the wet basin to the river lay-by berth in Rosyth on Sunday morning ahead of engine trials.
Stuart Garrett, managing director of Serco NorthLink, said: “We are confident the engineering works required to return the vessel to service will be completed over the weekend and we look forward to having the Hamnavoe back in Stromness in time for the Orkney Folk Festival next week
