Caithness Voluntary Group is now based within the Pulteney Centre in Wick.

The Latheron, Lybster and Clyth Halsary Fund is reopening for applications on May 2, with a closing date of June 30.

It is funded by ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) community benefit funds from the company’s Halsary wind farm. The fund supports projects and initiatives that benefit the residents within Latheron, Lybster and Clyth Community Council boundary.

These can be located outside the Latheron, Lybster and Clyth Community Council boundary if they provide a clear benefit to the residents within Latheron, Lybster and Clyth and the panel agrees to provide funding.

Grants of between £200 and £5000 can be applied for. Grant holders must be able to spend their grant within 12 months of an award.

For more information, go to cvg.org.uk/latheron-lybster-clyth-halsary-fund or email halsary@cvg.org.uk

Groups can apply to the Caithness and North Sutherland Fund for between £1000 and £30,000. Requests for higher amounts may be considered in exceptional circumstances.

The next closing date is June 26.

You can apply to the Caithness and North Sutherland Fund (CNSFund) if you are a voluntary or community organisation, school parent council, community council, community group or community development group.

The CNSFund website, cnsf.org.uk/guidance, gives full details on what it will fund and how to apply. If you have any questions or communications needs (such as Braille or large print, screen reader, audio taper, sign language or a community language) contact enquiries@cnsf.org.uk

Caithness Voluntary Group has moved premises, while continuing to provide the same services as before.

We are now located in the Argyle Suite within the Pulteney Centre in Huddart Street, Wick, after almost 20 years at Telford House in Williamson Street.

Befriending Caithness and Caithness Rural Transport are now based at the Pulteney Centre as well.

Wick St Fergus Church is planning to hold a free event, open to the public, with the aim of increasing awareness of all the work that goes on in Wick and East Caithness by local voluntary organisations.

It is intended that it will take place in the middle of this year, on a Saturday afternoon, for two to three hours. To encourage the public to pop in there will be two showings of the BBC documentary about Wick in the series My Kind of Town.

Groups will each be given a table to display information about their work and will be able to seek volunteers and donations while networking with representatives of other voluntary organisations.

If your group is interested in attending, contact Wick St Fergus Church by emailing contact@wickstferguschurch.org.uk by the end of April.

The National Lottery Community Fund has announced that it will launch new funding programmes for Scotland later in this year. As a result, it will be closing the following funding programmes from August 2024:

• Community-led Activity – grants of between £20,001 and £150,000 for projects in communities within Scotland that bring improvement to the places where people live and to those in need.

• Improving Lives – grants of between £20,001 and £200,000 for activities to help people in Scotland overcome difficulties and become more resilient.

• Cost-of Living Support Scotland – grants of between £20,001 and £75,000 for projects to support individuals, families and communities experiencing hardship as a result of the cost-of-living crisis.

The funds will continue to be promoted until the deadline of August 21.

National Lottery Awards for All, Young Start and the Scottish Land Fund will all remain open as normal.

Community Right to Buy Fund grants of up to £5000 are available through Highlands and Islands Enterprise to support community groups in the region in registering their interest in purchasing land or buildings.

More details can be found on the HIE website.
