Ghosts and ghouls and a host of other scary characters enjoyed a happy Halloween celebration at Miller Academy Primary School and Early Learning Centre in Thurso.

Pupils dressed up in some frighteningly good costumes, and school staff got in on the act as well.

The parent council generously gifted each child a Halloween treat bag including a pencil, stickers, a glow-in-the-dark bouncy ball and a spooky ring as well as a piece of chocolate. Each bag also contained a satsuma donated by the town's Tesco store.

Owing to the Covid-19 restrictions, the parent council and school couldn’t run the Halloween party and disco for the children, so the treat bags were a small gesture to replace the event.

Head teacher Jacqui Budge said: "We are so very grateful to our parent council treasurer, Susan Gerrard, who sourced and created all of the 280 fantastic Halloween treat bags."
