PLANS to create a major tourist attraction in Caithness which could bring thousands of new visitors to the county went on public display for the first time this week.

Halkirk Community Sports Foundation (HCSF) unveiled its proposals to build a transport and heritage museum as part of its three-phase development plan to improve facilities in the village.

HCSF, along with the North Highland Initiative, held an open day at the Ross Institute on Thursday to discuss its plans with members of the public.

Also outside the hall was a range of vintage vehicles which will be on display at the museum if plans and funding are approved.

HCSF is holding a second open day at the Ross Institute between 10am and noon today (Saturday).
