A Halkirk man has been cleared of fraud related to ink cartridges and securing unauthorised access to a programme while working for the Forss-based North Point Distillery.

Jonathan Todd (25) had denied having pretended to HP Instant Ink, UK that he was authorised, on behalf of the distillery, and induced HP to send him cartridges to the value of £118.47, and obtained that by fraud.

He was further accused of having performed a computer function to secure unauthorised access to a programme and data held on a computer, between September 20, 2022, and July 24, 2023.

During Todd's trial at Wick Sheriff Court, fiscal depute Grant McLennan accepted the accused's pleas of not guilty to the above charges.

Todd, of Sinclair Street, Halkirk, was found not guilty on a further charge of having maliciously refunded distillery customers £408.47 by changing details on the firm's computer system.
