A young Halkirk man is facing a charge of fraud related to the purchase of ink cartridges.

Jonathan Todd is accused of having pretended to HP Instant Ink UK that he was authorised on behalf of North Point Distillery, and induced HP to send him cartridges to the value of £118.47 and obtained that by fraud.

Todd (25) is also alleged to have maliciously refunded distillery customers £408.47 by changing details on the firm's computer system, Wick Sheriff Court heard last week.

Todd, of Sinclair Street, Halkirk, is further accused of having performed a computer function to secure unauthorised access to a programme and data held on a computer.

The offences are said to have taken place at his home, between September 20, 2022, and July 24, 2023.

Todd pleaded not guilty to the charges through Solicitor Fiona MacDonald. His trial will take place on March 19.
