Graffiti is spoiling Thurso, says Councillor Donnie Mackay.

A THURSO councillor has claimed graffiti is spoiling the look of the town.

Donnie Mackay made the claim at Tuesday night’s meeting of the community council when he urged police to take action.

He hit out after the recent spate of graffiti which has appeared in several areas of Thurso – including at the former cinema, a bus stop near the college and fencing erected at the site of the planned new Tesco store in Ormlie Road.

“Graffiti is spoiling our town and is costing the local authority a lot of money,” said Mr Mackay.

PC Paul Kerr, who was at the meeting, agreed and described graffiti as “contagious”.

“Once it starts it seems to spread as people add to it,” he said.
