Gail Ross (Scottish National Party)

I AM standing for re-election because I feel there are many things I have started in Wick that need to be seen through.

I am now chair of the Wick Harbourfest Committee. If I am re-elected I will continue to work to deliver an event Wick can be proud of in June.

I am working with Wick Harbour Authority to help them implement their plans to redevelop Wick harbour.

I will work with parents and residents to facilitate a group to rejuvenate the Hillhead play area.

I am part of a hard-working group within the SNP in the Highland Council and work closely with government to ensure smooth implementation of policy, locally and nationally.

We will return decision-making powers to Caithness and have pledged to give every council employee a living wage of £7.20 per hour.

We will uphold the Scottish Government’s council tax freeze. We will put in place preventative spend measures for our roads.

We will restructure the council’s strategic committees and management structures to improve decision-making and efficiency and to cut costs.

Many more things need to be done in our town. I can give you my guarantee that Wick is, and always will be, my priority.
