Four new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the NHS Highland area since yesterday.

The region's health board has now recorded 328 positive tests in the region since the outbreak began.

The slight increase came as the number of positive tests across Scotland passed the 14,000 mark. There were 188 newly confirmed cases across Scotland in the past day, to take the overall tally to 14,117. The true number of infections is believed to be much higher.

A further 34 people who tested positive have died, taking the number of fatalities among confirmed cases of Covid-19 to 2007.

The number of people in Scotland's hospitals with suspected or confirmed Covid-19 fell to 1480 from yesterday's tally of 1534.

The number of those in intensive care rose by just one to 71.

In NHS Highland there were only five people receiving hospital treatment for confirmed coronavirus at midnight last night.

There were once again no new cases of the virus confirmed in Orkney, Shetland or the Western Isles.

NHS Grampian returned 19 additional positive tests, taking its overall tally to 1142. There were slight increases in the number of hospital cases and intensive care patients, which rose to 98 and 11 respectively.
