Forsinard visitors give tips on building birdhouses at Thurso event
A birdhouse-building session has taken place in Thurso ahead of this year's Big Garden Birdwatch 2023 which is taking place from Friday to Sunday.
The event on Saturday was a collaboration between Thurso Community Development Trust (TCDT) and the RSPB. A group of three from Forsinard Flows nature reserve visited the community gardens in Thurso to teach members of the public and TCDT volunteers how to build their own birdhouses and to also promote Big Garden Birdwatch 2023 – the UK's largest garden-based citizen science project.
TCDT's Sharon Dismore, who organised the event, said: “We had a brilliant time up at the gardens with the team from Forsinard Flows, even if it was frosty and freezing cold. We made some amazing bits and pieces for the gardens and managed to pass on that knowledge to the community too.”
RSPB says that by taking part in Big Garden Birdwatch "you, and hundreds of thousands of other like-minded nature lovers, will be taking action to protect our birds for generations to come".
