Forres fire four past Wick but Academy stay top

Scorers- Forres: Duguid (43 pen), (72), Fraser (88), Moore (90).

Wick: Grant (50 OG).

The Mighty Can Cans put four goals past Wick Academy today but the Scorries have held onto the league top spot.

Academy had the stronger start at Mosset Park with Sam Mackay almost succeeding in setting up Richard Macadie for an early goal.

But Macadie missed making the connection in the Forres box just minutes into the game.

Mackay kept the pressure on through the opening stages setting up Gary Weir and Craig Shearer but neither shot forced Can Cans keeper Stuart Knight into action.

A soft penalty just two minutes before the break allowed Forres into the game.

Kevin Duguid converted the shot from the spot to make it 1-0 to the home-side.

Five minutes into the second half all of Mackay's hard work paid off when he equalised by knocking the ball of Graeme Grant who sent it into his own net.

Duguid and Graeme Fraser put Forres further out of reach with a goal each from set pieces.

Duguid set up the final nail in Academy's coffin by setting up sub Scott Moore with an easy fourth goal just before the final whistle.

Elsewhere in the league Formartine United won 4-1 over Keith putting them just two points behind the Scorries.

Academy play United next week at Harmsworth Park in a battle for the top spot.
