World Cup fever reached the far north last week when former Scotland captain Colin Hendry paid a visit to football-mad youngsters in Thurso.
The man who led the Scotland team out in the opening game of France 98 against Brazil talked of his pride at that moment, as well as some of the other highlights of his career.
Mr Hendry held a question-and-answer session at Thurso High School with young leaders from High Life Highland's active schools team as well as seniors within the PE department at the school.
Alyn Gunn, active schools coordinator for HLH in Thurso, said a total of 104 pupils attended the talks.
Mr Hendry talked about winning the Premiership with Blackburn and the treble with Rangers, and of course the "Gazza" goal celebration at Euro 96. He also spoke candidly about his upbringing and the tragic death of his wife Denise, who died from meningitis following a chain of events which started with a "botched" liposuction operation.
Evening footballing sessions were held with 40 primary school aged children, with support provided by HLH young leaders and Richie Campbell from Thurso Football Academy. The players of the sessions were Joey Macnab, Dave Steven, Connor Mann and Lewis Anderson, who each received gifts from the Colin for their efforts.
Everyone who came to both the Q&A and football sessions received a signed photo of Colin playing for Scotland.
Alyn was also presented with a signed number 5 shirt, which will be auctioned off to raise money for Thurso Football Academy.
Mr Hendry posted a video to thank the children and young adults. He said: "Thanks to High Life Highland and Thurso Active Schools for having me up to Scotland's most northern [mainland] town. I really enjoyed the Q&A at the high school and it was great to meet the young leaders who volunteer their time to help out with the active schools.
"There was some great talent on show, including one or two really good budding footballers in there."
