Caithness Family History Society’s December presentation is entitled Scottish Lighthouses and there will be a special talk next week in Wick.

The speaker will be David Fraser, who was a lighthouse keeper with the Northern Lighthouse Board. In the 1970s, David was posted to Noss Head Lighthouse, one of the many Stevenson-built lighthouses.

At the event you can hear about his time working at Noss but the presentation will also cover many other lighthouses. David’s talk will be illustrated by beautiful photographs of these iconic guardians of the sea.

He also has a book called Sodjer-Lichtie-Polis, a fascinating account of his life and varied occupations, that will be on sale on the night, in aid of Motor Neurone Disease charities, which are very close to his heart.

The talk is on Tuesday, December 6 at 7pm in the Nethercliffe Hotel, Wick, but will not be available online.

CFHS has a Facebook page and a website www.caithnessfhs.org.uk
