AN artist who lived in Caithness for five years has one of her paintings on view at a major exhibition in Edinburgh.
Great Faith by Jana Emburey, who was the coordinator at Wick’s St Fergus Gallery until she moved south over two years ago, has been selected for the 193rd Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) annual exhibition which runs until Wednesday, December 11.
It got under way at the start of the month.
Jana, who now lives in Grantown-on-Spey, is very pleased that the painting – which was featured in her solo exhibition at the &Gallery in the Scottish capital last year – was selected to be part of the RSA show.
"I'm delighted to be showing at the RSA again. It is such a privilege," she said. "It's up to the viewers to interpret what it could mean to them. We all see things so differently, yet everything is connected."
The painting, which is 80x110cm, ink and acrylic on Japanese Kozo paper, is from her Sweet Oblivion series.
Another of her works, Immersed, has been on show with the Society of Scottish Artists' professional members' exhibition, Time Spent Amongst Trees, at the Meffan Museum and Art Gallery in Forfar.
This one is again 80x110cm, ink and acrylic on Japanese Kozo paper and from the Sweet Oblivion series.
Earlier this year, Jana was also one of three artists showing work at the London-based gallery Ione & Mann as part of an exhibition called Rarefaction. The other two artists were Jonathan Kelly and Justine Formentelli.
