CAR park charges at John O’Groats was the winning topic in the float procession at this year’s Halkirk Gala Week.

Picking up the top float award was the Milton Mob while second place went to the Skinnet Squad, and third was secured by Kirsten and Friends with the Mad Hatters Tea Party. Scooping the top ticket in the foot walkers section was the Queen of Hearts.

This year’s Gala Queen was Caitlin Coghill, with attendants Tracy Mackay and Abbie Brown helping her out with the duties.

The gala, which started last Tuesday and ended at the weekend, involved a number of activities including the ever-popular children’s art competition and the fancy dress contest which featured some wonderful costumes.

Thursday’s dog and pet show also had an excellent turn out with vets and vet nurses from DS Macgregor and Partners doing the judging.
