Flights between Inverness and Luton have been cancelled today after a fire broke out at Luton airport.

All flights have been suspended in and out of the airport after a huge blaze took hold of its multi-storey car park.

Four firefighters and a staff member are receiving treatment at hospital.

Airline Easyjet responded to the suspension of flights with confirmation that today's 11.40am flight (EZY622) between Inverness and Luton has been cancelled.

The 9.40am flight (EZY621) from Luton to Inverness has also been cancelled.

A statement from easyJet Operations Control read: "This is due to a fire at the multi-story car park at Luton airport which has closed Luton airport to all departures and arrivals.

"We understand that this will be disappointing news. The disruption to your flight is outside of our control and is considered to be an extraordinary circumstance."
