Five positive cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the north-east corner of Caithness during the latest seven-day period covered by Public Health Scotland’s interactive dashboard.

The online resource has a map giving the number of positive cases in specific Scottish "neighbourhoods", seven of which are within Caithness.

The latest Public Health Scotland figures cover November 23-29 and reveal that there were five cases in Caithness North East (population 3533) over that seven-day period – more than any other neighbourhood in the Highland region.

Where there are fewer than five positive cases in an area, the actual number is not provided "to protect patient confidentiality".

The dashboard shows there were no positive cases in the Caithness North West, Caithness South, Thurso East, Thurso West, Wick North or Wick South neighbourhoods.

The Sutherland North and West neighbourhood, including the north coast communities, had no cases either.

The dashboard reported 35 positive cases in the Highland local authority area during the seven-day period.
