Fire crews spent over six hours tackling a house blaze in Thurso on Wednesday. Two engines from Thurso and one from Wick dealt with the outbreak at Park Avenue.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the call was received at 8.34am and three engines were mobilised.

She said two hose-reel jets were used along with four breathing apparatus and short extension ladders.

The crews left the scene at just after 2.45pm.

No details are available about the condition of the property or the occupants but it is thought no-one was injured in the fire.
