Using his mobile phone while driving cost Scott Leggat a £250 fine.
The 30-year-old also incurred six penalty points after he admitted the offence at Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Leggat, of Glenelm Place, Bellshill, was spotted by police in Main Street, Castletown, on November 11, last year.
