Final preparations under way for Caithness Relay for Life

PEOPLE are preparing to take part in an overnight emotional but inspiring celebration aimed at uniting communities to help beat cancer.

The 12-hour Caithness Relay for Life will see 25 teams of between eight and 15 people involved in a fundraising festival in support of Cancer Research UK.

About 280 friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances of all ages and levels of fitness will take it in turns to walk around a track at the Caithness Showfield at Thurso East on Saturday from 6pm.

Prior to the relay there will be a fun day and children’s mini-relay where children can dress up as their favourite superhero or fairytale character and join in the fun and novelty laps while the teams provide stalls and activities, including baking, tombola and face painting.

Live music will be on the main stage from 3 to 11pm and there is set to be entertainment throughout the day including displays of kuk sool won, gymnastics, Highland dancers, ballet dancing and shinty.
