A TELEVISION personality has began her epic 874 mile journey from Caithness to Cornwall to raise money for a miscarriage charity.

Fern Britton set off from John O’Groats this morning at the start of her 20 day cycle challenge from John O’Groats to Land’s End. Given a piper’s welcome at the end-of-the-road signpost along with 70 other cyclists taking part in the ride, she set off at 9.30am.

She is also being joined by celebrity chef Phil Vickery and former Wick resident Allison Windeatt, who now lives in Torquay.

The challenge is being done in aid of the Genesis Research Trust which works to find treatments and cures for

devastating conditions affecting women and their babies.
