Faroese fisherman fails to show up at Wick court to face charges





A sheriff has ordered the arrest of a Faroese man who failed to turn up in court to face charges of assault and threatening or abusive behaviour.

Fisherman Margeir Kjarbo (31) is alleged to have committed the offences in the Grove Bar, Thurso, on June 3, last year, Wick Sheriff Court heard on Wednesday.

He is accused of assaulting Benjamin Peterson by punching and kicking him and lunging towards him with a knife. Kjarbo is further charged with cutting Klaus Taylor with a knife to his injury.

Kjarbo, of Trongisvagur, in the Faroes Islands, is also accused of possessing three knives without a reasonable excuse.

The accused has yet to tender pleas to the charges.
