Far north parades will remember the fallen

HIGHLAND Councillors and other local authority staff will join the veterans and the public in taking part in acts of remembrance on Sunday to mark Armistice Day throughout the Highlands.

In Caithness, Wick councillors and the ward manager David Sutherland will take part in the parade which commences at 11am at the Wick War Memorial where Caithness civic leader will lay a wreath on behalf of the council.

Meanwhile, at the same time of 11am, Thurso councillors will take part in the parade at the town’s war memorial where Councillor John Rosie will lay a wreath.

Landward councillor Alex Macleod will also lay a wreath on behalf of the Council at the Halkirk War Memorial service at 10am.

Schools throughout the Highlands are selling poppies and participating in Remembrance activities, involving pupils staff and local school communities.
