Stallholders from all over Caithness and Sutherland attended the North Coast Market held in the Halladale Inn, Melvich, at the weekend.

"We had a fantastic turnout at the market on Saturday," said organiser Fiona Macfarlane. "All the stallholders had a good day and there was a good variety of goods.

"There was a competition for adults and one person won a voucher for £10 to spend at the market and we also had a children's one where they had to find objects on all the craft tables.

"Both the parents and the children really enjoyed it and the winner, Oscar, won an Easter egg. We will probably do this again."

Fiona was very appreciative of the support shown by the team at the Halladale Inn who allowed the group to take over the restaurant for the fair which was the first one of the year.

She also thanked all the crafters who put a "beautiful array" of goods on display despite it being a wintry morning as well as those who came along to see what was on offer.

The organiser said it had been an enjoyable day and is keen to make the children's competition a regular event. She was very impressed that all the young entrants were able to work out the answers.

A list of dates for the other fairs can be found on the North Coast Market Facebook page. The next market is set to take place in Armadale Hall on March 19.
