Famous faces sport ‘I Love UHI’ badges
SCOTLAND’s newest university is targeting potential students from cities across the country to fill a 1000 extra available places on courses across all of its campuses, including Thurso.
The University of the Highlands and Islands is using famous landmarks in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling as part of its marketing campaign to attract students north.
It is part of the drive to take UHI "to the heart" of the cities to encourage young people to join the 7500 students already on undergraduate and postgraduate courses across the Highlands and Islands.
The Bruce statue at Stirling Castle, the former first minister Donald Dewar’s likeness in Glasgow’s Buchanan Street, Edinburgh’s memorial in Princes Street to the Scottish novelist, Sir Walter Scott, and the newly-unveiled bronze tribute to football legend Denis Law at Aberdeen Sports Village have all been given a photographic makeover showing the figures sporting university colours and wearing "I Love UHI" badges.
UHI’s marketing manager, Margaret Antonson, said it wants to encourage as many students as possible from other cities to enjoy the wide range of courses available in the Highlands.

"We want to show this in a fun way through targeting the cities where our four famous recruits are best known and demonstrating that UHI has no real boundaries," she said.
"Our mobile campus will take us into the heart of these cities and UHI staff will be on hand to provide advice and guidance, especially to those who are going through the university places clearing system."
