Ewe lambs steal centre stage at Quoybrae show and sale
Quoybrae, Aberdeen and Northern Marts on Monday sold 6757 ewe lambs, store and prime lambs, feeding ewes and rams.
In the DR Alexander & Son sponsored show and sale of ewe lambs, champion single in the half-bred section judged by John Sleigh, St Johns Wells, Fyvie was from F Anderson, Osclay, Lybster which realised £400 to the judge.
Champion pen of 10 half-bred ewe lambs and the winner of the Harry S Sleigh Perpetual Trophy for Champion Pen of Half-Bred Ewe Lambs was awarded to Fiona Anderson, Osclay which realised £250 to John Sleigh.
First prize pen of 20 half-bred ewe lambs was awarded to A Miller & Sons, Aimster, Thurso which realised £215.
Champion single in the North Country Cheviot section was from JS Ballie & Co, Sebay Farm, Tankerness and sold for £230 to Iain Laird, Yeldabreck, Burray.
Champion pen of 10 of North Country Cheviot ewe lambs was from Mesr T Sinclair, Reaster, which sold for £295 to I Laird, Yeldabreck, Burray.

Champion single in the any other breed section was a Texel from JMM MacBeath, Folly Farm, Murkle and realised £225 to R Wilkie, Tillyboy, Echt.
Champion pen of 10 were Texel crosses from D Coghill, Tofts of Tain and sold for £180 to GA Stephens Sheep & Co.
Half-bred ewe lambs (694) averaged £191.01 (+£35.80 on the year) to £400 from Overton, Mid-Clyth.
Cheviot ewe lambs (287) averaged £187.38 (+£59.54) to £295 for a pen from Reaster, Lyth.
Cross ewe lambs (998) averaged £133.33 (+£13.90) to £225 for Texel Cross from Folly Farm, Murkle.
Half-bred wdr lambs (74) averaged £117.31(+£11.88) to £131 from Tain, Castletown.
Cheviot wdr lambs (298) averaged £90.71 (+£21.44) to £128 from Upper Dounreay, Thurso.
Cross lambs (3283) averaged £100.55 (+£16.38) to £140 twice for Texels and Suffolks from Balnahard, Harpsdale.
Prime lambs (475) averaged 296.2p per kg and sold to 313.8p for 47kg Texels from Lynegar, Watten and £157.50 gross for 52kg Suffolks from Mavsey, Lybster.
