A CAITHNESS crafter’s TV debut was such a success that she has been asked for an encore.

Charmain Barrett (39), owner of BB & C Crafts in Wick, appeared on the Create and Craft TV channel at the end of July after becoming the British demonstrator for a German multi-million-pound international art and design company.

Her debut TV appearance as the British demonstrator for Viva Decor was a “learning curve” but by the end of her last live slot on July 25 the married mother of two was ready for her next curtain call.

That made it all the sweeter when the company asked her for a repeat performance. “I can’t wait actually. I’m quite excited about going back,” she said. “You don’t get a lot of time and you are standing facing the camera, which you’re not supposed to look at, and you have to move quite slowly so the camera can keep up. It’s completely different from ?doing a demonstration in front of a live audience.”

The return to the crafting channel, scheduled for September 6, is just the latest success for the craft shop owner after impressing the Viva Decor bosses with her “anything-is-possible” attitude to their arts and craft range.

As well as promoting their different art products around the country over the past few months, she has been getting expenses-paid trips to Germany to meet the owners of the company.

The icing on the cake came in June when she was asked to promote the products on three one-hour live shows on the Create and Craft TV channel.

When she appears again, Charmain will be presenting the same vivid and unusual range of paints, glues, glittery inks and other products on the show, as well as her own work with them.

She said the products, which she stocks in her own shop in Bridge Street, practically sell themselves.

“It’s wonderful because they are wonderful products,” she said. “It makes life much simpler for me to show people just how simple they are to use but you can also do fancier pieces until you are doing great pieces of art.”

Charmain will appear on the Create and Craft TV channel on September 6 at 8am, 4pm and 6pm.

Create and Craft is broadcast on channels Sky 671, Freeview 36, Freesat 813, or can be watched online at www.createandcraft.tv
