Emergency bottled water issued in Watten area after burst pipe causes issues
A burst water main is currently being worked on in the Watten area with residents being issued emergency rations of bottled water.
The issue was highlighted over the weekend and Scottish Water posted its latest update at 3pm today (Monday, December 23) saying it was still in the process of being repaired with the next update due at 7pm.
Scottish Water said on its website today: “We have located a burst water main near Watten and will be carrying out a repair at 1200hrs this afternoon.
“We have introduced alternative water supplies to our network via articulated tankers to maintain supplies for customers. However, please be aware that customers in the Watten and Georgemas areas may experience no water or low pressure whilst the repair is underway.”
The company apologised for the inconvenience and stated that once the repair is complete residents may experience discolouration to the water supply.
“This is normal after incidents such as a burst water main. If your water is cloudy, this is air trapped in the supply and will clear over the next 24-48 hours.

“If your water is brown, please allow your cold water kitchen tap to run gently at around half pressure. Please do not run any other taps, or use any water appliances in the property until this is running clear.
“Once this is running clear from the cold water kitchen tap, please follow the same process with any other taps experiencing discoloured water.”
