Members of a Wick-based dance school say they can't wait to take to the stage again as they prepare for their first show in more than three-and-a-half years.

The Elise Lyall School of Dance will present a range of choreographed routines and traditional displays in the Assembly Rooms on June 24/25, at 7.30pm both nights.

The show is entitled Take a Bow and 49 dancers are taking part, ranging in age from six to 21 years.

Comperes are Grant Mackenzie and Avril Farquhar, while members of Wick RBLS Pipe Band will also be attending.

Elise Lyall explained: "This is our third attempt since lockdown to stage a show and it will be our first since November 2018. Throughout lockdown and the last few years our dancers have never stopped – going from Zoom classes to outside, then bigger venues that would allow the numbers.

"All along their goal was at some point to get back on stage as a school and entertain friends, family and the local community.

"We will have many invited guests attending, as the dancers were asked to nominate individuals or organisations that they felt had encouraged and guided them through lockdown. We are looking forward to seeing them all there.

"All members in the school are working hard to perfect their routines in time and can't wait to take to the stage."

Tickets are on sale at Blackstairs Highlandwear in Wick or by phoning 07843489638.
