Big-hearted Macie Shearer, aged eight, from Thurso sang her way to raising £2175 for charity with a special Advent calendar singing challenge before Christmas.
Macie had sung an Advent calender each day in 2022 and had received a message asking if she was doing it again in 2023, said her mum Susan Harper.
"She discussed it with her granny [Pamela Shearer] and Macie decided she would do it for charity," added Susan.
"Her granny suffers with pulmonary fobrosis so she wanted to raise awareness for it and set a target for £200. To date she has raised £2175 and her fundraising page is still open but will close in due course."
Macie raised the money by singing a Christmas song or carol requested by family friends and strangers. She would learn it each night for the next morning even if she didn’t know the song.
The youngster even had a family band doing one song with her that included her dad on guitar. Then her last song of the Advent was with her dad on keyboard, grandad on triangle and granny on the tambourine.
"She raised way more than expected and even had a special request for Auld Lang Syne which she completed on Hogmanay," said her mum.
Macie's fundraiser is still active and if you wish to donate it can be found at: www.justgiving.com/page/susan-harper-1701258297162
"Lots of people supported me last year when I did my singing, so I thought I would try and raise some money to support a charity that is close to my granny’s heart," said Macie.
"My granny means the world to me and has made me so proud with how far she has come since her diagnosis. There are over 200 different variations of [the disease] so we thought best try to find a charity that can benefit lots of people.
"So if you would like to help me raise some money or request a song join me in my singing Advent calendar."
Her mum added: "Macie is only eight so it's quite an achievement. We just wanted to share with everyone what she ended up donating to the charity through all the kind donations from family, friends and strangers."
Susan said she thought that sharing her daughter's success through the local newspaper was the best way to thank everyone who donated.
