Crossroads primary has been awarded a Green Flag Award by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful in recognition of its Eco-School commitment.

To earn the accolade, Crossroads has been following the seven elements of the programme for the past two years to ensure the involvement of the whole school and the wider community.

It has focused on litter, waste minimisation and biodiversity. Pupils have also linked the Eco-Schools Scotland action plan to the United Nations' sustainable development goals.

Crossroads is registered as an Eco-School with Keep Scotland Beautiful.

Barry Fisher, the charity's chief executive, said: “I would like to congratulate all the pupils and staff at Crossroads Primary School for achieving the Green Flag Award.

“Eco-Schools supports schools in their work with Learning for Sustainability and Curriculum for Excellence and helps ensure our children and young people are equipped with skills that they need for the future.

"I hope that everyone had fun while learning about our environment and why it is important for our health, our business and our wildlife.”

More information about Eco-Schools Scotland can be found on the Keep Scotland Beautiful website.

Crossroads teacher Nicola Mackay said: "We are really proud of the children's hard work in achieving the Green Flag Award."
