Our Wee Shop at Westfield near Thurso held a special Easter Saturday event for local children and their families to say a big thanks for their support.

Lorna Mackenzie, who owns and runs the shop, put on Easter inspired games; made up little gift bags; and gave out handcrafted wooden bunnies for kids – all whilst dressed up as a bunny herself.

"It was nice to give something back to the community," said Lorna.

"I prepared little gifts for them and had items on the table. There was bingo as well. There's Our Wee Kitchen too and that prepared all the food for the shop including cakes and baking.

"Our Wee Kitchen is a burger van and had meals, takeaways, chips, hot dogs, burgers, and specials like macaroni cheese and fish and chips. Most of the kids had parents or grandparents so it was quite busy.

"Overall, it was a great success and I think everyone really enjoyed it. Some of the smaller ones might have been frightened with the full [bunny] mask on but when I took it off they were okay. I had my face painted as well and it wasn't as scary."

The event was free and over 50 delighted children along with their families attended throughout Easter Saturday. Our Wee Shop hosts a similar event at Christmas with a Santa's Grotto.

Our Wee Shop has a Facebook page and there is a website which can be found at www.ourweeshop.com/

The shop is situated at Westfield farm, Westfield near Thurso.
