A DROP-in day is being held in Dunnet to update the public on plans to buy the forest for the community.

The village's Britannia Hall will host the event on Saturday, December 7, between 2pm and 4.30pm, and those interested in the Dunnet forest board of trustees' programme for purchasing the woodland are invited along to hear the plans, ask questions and share their views.

Tea and mince pies will be on offer, as well as a range of Christmassy forest products.

The event follows the first of two December log and Christmas tree sales to be held in the forest.

The second sale, on the 14th, will also find Santa paying his annual visit to the log cabin, surrounded by his entourage of elves and helpers, with soup, tea, coffee, cakes and the usual Christmas fare available.

Andrew Wands, chairman of Dunnet Forestry Trust, said of the drop-in day: "This occasion would be an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in the progress we have been making towards buying the forest for the community to come along and see what we plan for the future of the forest.

"Any ideas from members of the community would be most welcome, and this drop-in day will give people the chance to have their say and also hear our views on any forest-related matters they may wish to raise."
