Dunbeath crofter Jasmine Grant and her dog Pat will represent Scotland in the Four Nations Nursery Sheepdog Final in Stafford today (Saturday).

Jasmine said: "I am absolutely delighted and honoured to be running for Scotland in the Four Nations Final, it is a real privilege and I am looking forward to the event."

In order to get in the Scottish team Jasmine has been running at trials throughout Highland and Aberdeenshire, as part of the North League, since last October.

The league was particularly strong this year with over 30 dogs and their owners competing for one of five places in the North Team to run at the Scottish Nursery final in Selkirk last weekend.

Following very consistent running in the league, Jasmine secured a place in the team with Pat as well as reserve place with Lad.

Ten regional teams took to the field in Selkirk and Jasmine was sixth overall and secured place number four in the team with Pat.

When asked about Pat, Jasmine said: "She is a lovely wee dog, Irish bred and works well on all kinds of sheep, the sheep were tricky in Selkirk and Pat handled them very well round the course and had an excellent shed to complete the run."

This is the second time Jasmine has represented Scotland at sheepdog trialling, the last time was in 2005 when she was part of the Scottish Team which won the coveted BBC One Man and His Dog series final in 2015 at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.

Jasmine has just returned to trailing after a 17-year break when she had her daughter Kirsty.

Vicky Shearer from Lythmore also ran at the Scottish Final and was awarded the prize for the youngest competitor.
