A driver who failed to provide two specimens of breath was fined £600 at Wick Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Darryn Sutherland (35) was also banned from driving for a year after pleading guilty to the offence, which occurred on November 19, last year.

He told officers at the police station that he didn't feel well and was unable to provide the necessary samples.

His solicitor, George Mathers, said that Sutherland, of Airlay, Sordale, Halkirk, was in some discomfort at the time but added that it was not a good enough reason to refuse the tests.
