A man has died in a crash on the A9 at the Causewaymire, police confirmed on Tuesday.

The road was closed for almost 10 hours as investigations took place following a collision between a lorry and a car on Monday afternoon.

Road policing officers are now appealing for information about the incident, which happened at around 3pm on Monday, October 16.

Emergency services were called to the A9 at the Causeymire Windfarm, by Mybster, to the two-vehicle crash involving a silver Audi A6 and a red Volvo FH lorry.

The driver of the Audi, a 71-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Douglas Scott, from Highland and Islands Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the man who died at this difficult time. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

“To allow us to establish exactly what happened, I’m appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

“If you were in the area around this time and have dash-cam footage, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 1456 of October 16.
