A driver caught speeding on the Hempriggs straight of the A99 near Wick was fined £300 at the town’s sheriff court on Wednesday.

Aidan Milne was clocked by police at 95mph in a 60mph limit as he sped to catch the ferry for Orkney, on August 2.

The 27-year-old previously lived in Gordon Crescent, Methlick, but was relocating to the islands at the time of the offence.

Milne, who pleaded guilty and admitted a previous record, had his licence endorsed with six points.
