Driver from Thurso denies driving at 90mph in 30 limit during police chase

A Thurso driver is alleged to have been at the centre of a high-speed chase in the town as he was being pursued by police officers.

Steven O'Kane has been accused of driving at speeds of up to 90mph in a 30mph speed limit, repeatedly on the wrong side of the road and failing to stop when pursuing police officers signalled him to do so.

The 30-year-old pleaded not guilty to a charge of dangerous driving at Wick Sheriff Court last week and also denied having driven with excess alcohol and failing to confirm to the officers that he had been behind the wheel.

The offences are said to have occurred between Janet Street and Sinclair Road, Thurso, on September 29, last year.

O'Kane, of Durness Street, Thurso, will stand trial on March 28.
