Driver fined for not using booster seat for child

A Ross-shire driver whose young passenger didn't have a booster seat was fined £100 at Wick Sheriff Court his week.

Eileen Booth, of Bridge View, Connon Bridge, pleaded guilty to the offence which occurred in Seaforth Road, Wick, on April 29, last year.

The court heard that the 12-year-old youngster – the accused's nephew – was strapped in but didn't have the required booster seat.

Booth (31) was given a fixed penalty fine when stopped by the police but it wasn't paid in the time allowed and her case was automatically forwarded to Fiscal David Barclay.

The accused also admitted a number of previous convictions.

She claimed she had earlier gone into town but couldn't find a shop that sold boosters.
